* Percy De Bouchnelle accompanied William The Conqueror in 1076 in his expedition to England, coming from Tours in Normandy, France.
* At the end of the war Henri and Percy De Bouchnelle were granted Baronial privileges in England, one in Cumberland County to guard the Scots, and the other in one of the Midland Counties.
* During the realm of King Edward III (1370s), Sir John De Bouchnelle changed the family name to Bushnell to conform to the English usage.
* Francis Bushnell is the progenitor of most of the Bushnells in the U.S.today… was born about 1580 in Sussex County England. He emigrated to America in 1639 with his wife and 7 of his 11 children and settled in Connecticut.
* Our descendents may join the Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames, as Jabez Bushnell served under General Washington at Phillipsburg in
July of 1782.
